Mindful Monday

{via}

Whatever our path, whatever the color of grain of our days, whatever riddles we must solve, to stay alive, the secret of life somehow always has to do with the awakening and freeing of what has been asleep.-Mark Nepo

The quote from above is from a book I am reading. The Book of Awakening is really like a daybook or something. However, I have it on loan from the library and am reading it like a book of short essays. It is all about paying attention to your life.

That seems to be a theme in my life these days. As busy as I may be or feel, I always want to have a deep love and attention for my life. I really do feel overwhelming grateful for everything, except snow. I can totally live without that.

What's the theme of your life these days?

P.S. I am loving looking here, here and here .

For some reason, I am listening to this song. It is kinda empowering, though.

  2. the theme of my life these days is a mix of inspiration and determination. unfortunately, i haven't been able to combine these two things yet, so i'm either really inspired or really determined. i dream of the time when i can be totally inspired in the things i'm determined to accomplish.

i love those blogs that you mentioned. beautiful!

  3. It sounds like an amazing book, I am definitely going to check it out! I really like your theme for life, it's so positive :)
My theme of life at the moment is to be more aware of others, their needs and feelings. Something I have been lacking in a little, as ashamed as I am to admit it,

  4. My theme right now is balance. I'm trying to balance the things I want to do with the things I have to do. It doesn't seem to be working so well right now.....But as long as I keep trying that's all I can ask for!

Thanks for sharing. Those links are great!!

  5. My theme is at the moment is to be very much aware of my own needs.
It's been so eye-opening so far for me to realize that taking care of what you want doesn't mean that you ignore other people's needs. It's not this or that, it can indeed be both.

  6. i love what you've said. some really excellent advice.

i guess my theme is a la tim gunn: make it work! i've had a lot of changes, and it's time to just make. things. work.

  7. @kel- that's a great theme to embrace. Speaking Gunn of I need to start his book, I've heard it was good.
@karen-I think a lot of people(esp. women) try and be everything to everyone. Plus, people tend to operate in extremes either all about themselves or all about others. I think that you can do both.
@things to do- achieving balance is a masterful act. I think that it looks differently for everyone. When you find balance it may not be how you think it should look but it will work.
@many colours of happiness- Oh, I fall into that. More often than I care to admit. I think we just have to refresh and start over.
@kim-wow, I imagine if you had them both at the same time you would be worn out. They are strong states, aren't they?
@melita-so, far it is turning out to be lovely.

  10. The theme of my life at the moment is to push everything to the limit. It might sound contradictory, but I find peace in the extreme (well, in what I find extreme) :)

Hope you're having a good week and thanks for your comments in my blog.

    xx

  11. What a beautiful quote. Thanks so much for sharing.

I'm not sure that I necessarily have a theme at the moment, but I have been saying yes to a lot more things than I ever thought I would. That has been life-affirming in and of its own :)

  12. Sounds like an amazing book! I really love what you wrote about the deep love and attention for your life. That noticing, that gratitude- I strive for that.

And as for my theme? I'd say "Up and Down"- I stay on course, and then I lose sight, and then back again.

Thank you for your ever inspiring words. I heart them. That is all. :)

  13. my theme right now is definitely- focus!
my mind has a tendency to go in 30 directions at once, it often spreads my energy too thin over certain areas. i think this means i'll need to accept the fact that i have to sacrifice exploring certain areas in order to focus on others- i just need to figure out what potential i want to grow...
    does that even make sense?

  14. @ruth-thanks
@carmella- yes, I have definitely had to apply the focus brakes recently. You are totally making sense to me. Sometimes we get all crazy going it ten different directions. Sometimes, it helps to come back to the middle.
@galit b-Up and down- that seems to be the motion of the ocean for me. It is hard to keep attention but when we come back to it life is blooming and amazing.
@charlotte- saying yes! I love that.
@Zsuzi- extremes work for many people. sometimes we do need an extra push.
@diana-thanks love.I'll check out your giveaway, soon.
@teeg-thanks! I am glad you returned the visit. I love your blog, too.
