Wishcasting

The amulet which prays the improvement of art....Image via Wikipedia
Today, on Wishcasting Wednesday, Jamie asked "What limits do you wish to set?"
Um, I've been thinking about this all day and I still find it hard to pick one thing or anything.
If I set some limits. I would limit my self-improvement projects.
Ugh, I know I know, I hate self-improvement but always find myself wrapped in a some sort of worthiness dance.It's exhausting.

It never seems like its going to head to the point of obligation and exhaustion but it always does.The worthiness hustle is an endless cycle. You are always running to do the next thing to make yourself alright.  You feel guilty if you don't do those things you
think you need to do to feel alright.

Plus,I always hold on too, tightly to whatever my "magic drug" is and before you know it I am tiptoeing through life.I'm not saying, I'm without flaws but I'm saying is maybe I need to limit
the thought that I personally, right now must correct each and every one.

I need to be a little undisciplined for a while. {gulp}
Not saying drop everything but really question
my intentions. Am I doing this to make myself feel worthy
or to enhance this moment? Something to chew on!

What do you need to limit?

  1. I can relate! I am so busy fixing myself, I don't have time to BE myself. As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you as well.

  3. i have spent years and a lot of money on self-help books. (Some times they even helped, but they were books written by a clinical psychologist) Mostly I was just reduced to tears.

    Remember you are enough, as you are right now.

    YOU DO NOT NEED FIXING!!

    As you wish for yourself, so do I wish for you as well.

  8. oh boy, that's such a huge and great question for me. i don't have too many things that i limit, other than my time (i really protect my alone time since it's so vital for my sanity). i'm also great at setting limits when it comes to interactions with people, but setting limits with myself is a whole other ballgame. i think the hard part about setting limits is knowing where to put them. we often have zero limits or super strict limits, but it's hard to set them somewhere in the middle, where probably most limits should be set. hmm... this has given me some good things to think about.

  10. I know exactly what you mean!!! We place so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, and forget how lovely we already are. I think that is a really great limit you have set for yourself, thank you for sharing :)

  12. awwwww, YAY! You added a photo to your "about me"--what a beautiful girl you are :)

    hmm... i'm not sure that i'd want to necessarily limit anything, but i'd like to balance it all. that to me has always been the great challenge. and i think with that comes the assumption that i would just have to cut back on some things. since i don't have an over abundance of time, i'd like to use it more effectively. maybe less tv, more writing. less worry, more chances.

  14. @Paula-ecourse are so tempting. I want to enroll in many but my wallet says, no!
    Charlotte- It was my gutsy move of the year. I've waffled about the idea and decided why not. Yes, I am with you on t.v. and more writing!Goodness, know what I could have written if I cut my t.v. time.
    @Lucy, @aprilcole, @diana,@maria, @Pam, @ Julia Scott J. and @Kim S.-Thanks so much for wishing
    alongside me.
    @the many colours of happiness- The pressure to be perfect is so draining. Think we should go on strike, eh?
    @kim-what you say about zero limits or strict limits is so true. It is really hard to set moderate limits.
    @erin r. - so true. most of those books just make you frustrated! Thank you for the reminder-I do not need fixing.! amen.
    @collectingyourself- Oh, I hear you. It is so exhausting to try and fix yourself-what do you have left.
