Who's afraid of some quiet?

Never be afraid to sit awhile and think. ~Lorraine Hansberry

Lately, I've been practicing unplugging. I think, I mentioned this is in a post. Anyway, it's not the most natural thing in the world for me. I'm humoring myself and doing certain activities unplugged. Such as:

It is is funny, I never realized how noisy life can be or how I was/am choosing chatter/noise. No judgement, just an observation.

What is the role of quiet in your life?

  1. beautiful pictures. quiet has a huge part in my life. i'm particularly aware of it when i am in a loud environment for too long & feel the effects it has on my mind, body, and soul.

  2. You can never go wrong with unplugging! How better to connect than to disconnect with that which doesn't serve us, no? I'm a huge fan of taking and making space.

Thank you for your comment and compliment on my blog today - I'm so happy that you enjoyed what you found!

  3. What a wonderful thing to do. I also find myself staying away for a good chunk of time and on the weekends even a couple of days sometimes from the computer. It does lead to seeing you have time for other things that are lovely. I like your projects!

  4. sometimes i drive to work appointments with the radio off. i just want to hear...no one and nothing. (this makes sense if you know #1 i essentially talk for a living and #2 my radio is basically broken anyway).

lovely post. there's nothing like knitting for a good bout of relaxation, is there?

  5. @lissbliss-I know, loud places unnerve me. I get easily overstimulated.
@Tricia-I couldn't have said it better.
@alexandria-Yes, I am thinking about taking time away from the computer unless it is homework or writing.
@kelli-I forget to press repeat on my ipod this morning and it fell between the seat when I tried to press it. Had to drive the rest of the way in silence. It was nice.

  6. I love how you added a "no judgment" at the end of your blog post there. Because for a quick second, I judged myself for not giving myself enough time unplugged. It something I honestly struggle with more and more each passing day. Not sure how to find a good balance yet... but I am sure I will figure it out somehow =P

  7. I'm so bad at this! I always have music, tv, or radio filtering in when I'm doing stuff. It might be nice to set aside a certain amount of time each day where I can unplug and just think without interruption.
