When I got my library card, that's when my life began. ~Rita Mae BrownFirst, I want to say: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your kind thoughts on my last post. I am truly blessed to have you all as my friends!

I have always had a soft spot for the public library. As a child, I would often wait at our local branch for my Mom to come for me after school. During that time, I would fall over with glee exploring. I think this is when I become a book dabbler. I love picking up a wide-array of topics and then puttering slowly through the pages of each book.
Over the years, I have developed a habit of being a library patron. There have been times when I have been a forgetful patron {hello, fines!} but mainly I have been faithful. Personally, I am still a sucker for a stack of books but I also like to get music and sometimes, it's just nice to sit and stare out the window.
What's your favorite public space?
Hello, fines! Yup, that's me! Haha...but I do love the library. So much to explore.
ReplyDeleteI love parks and trails. I think there is so much to be seen and heard yet you can be in your own quiet place at the same time.
i do adore libraries but don't go often as i like having my 'own' book. selfish as that sounds lol. i'm a very tactile reader with pen in hand, and might spill some tea on them, etc. as per your previous post, i know everything will work out perfectly for you. you are definitely sending the right signals to the universe and she will definitely respond! big hugs!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Canada, I used to frequent the library once a week at least. It was my favorite place to be (besides Tim Hortons -- a coffee shop). I loved the smell and the quiet.
ReplyDeletei'm a library lover too! i got super excited earlier when i got an email from our library saying that one of my requests has arrived - "and i shall have some peace there" by margaret roach - my first summer reading book this year! i have always adored the library and probably always will. a couple of years ago i let go of my attachment to owning books - now (except for a few special choices) i like to borrow from the library and keep them all flowing through my house instead of piling to the ceiling. :D
ReplyDeleteI love love love my public library. The one near me in San Diego was fantastic, and honestly, I may choose the next place I live so it's in close proximity to a good library.
ReplyDeleteI love a trail. I have not been trail hiking in ages. It's like being in nature's library
ReplyDeleteLOL. I am a tactile bookreader, too. It is hard not bring them in the bath and cookbooks those are impossible not to get a bit dirty.
ReplyDeleteLibraries and coffee shops are a win win combination. I still love the smell of coffee, even though I don't drink it.
ReplyDeleteDiana, I am working on that --the attachment to owning books. It is hard but I am finding it strangely freeing. P.S. there is nothing better than breezing in and getting your holds.
ReplyDeleteBrandi, that is such a good idea. I once lived like 500 ft from my public library and it was heaven on earth.
ReplyDeleteI just love the smell of the public library! Brings back memories...
ReplyDeleteI just got off the phone with my mom and she told me of a friend who is a librarian and there was a recent layoff--about 10 people were let go her local library. It was a reminder that I need to go and patronize the library more often--I get upset with myself that I don't go enough. Thanks for this post; it couldn't have come at a better time!
ReplyDeleteOh, it sure does.
ReplyDeleteyes, yes it makes a difference.

ReplyDeleteI just recently have become involved with my library again. It's so refreshing to go back to a place you loved after being away for a while.
